Traffic, budget concerns addressed at "Let's Talk" forum

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Over 50 people packed Liberty Baptist Church at last night's "Let's Talk with the Mayor" forum.

Several concerns were raised about traffic, unsolved cases by the District Attorney's office, and budget cuts in city departments.

There were also concerns raised about a new roundabout that could possibly be installed near the Bunker Hill area.

"It's the greatest way to hear what is on people's minds, and even if they come frustrated they always leave relieved because they have been able to look their mayor in the eye and tell them what their concerns are," says Mayor Teresa Tomlinson.

City leaders are already scouting locations in the city for future "Let's Talk" forums.

Tomlinson says the purpose of these forums is to put the citizens up close and personal with the mayor and other city leaders.

The next forum is scheduled for Sept. 12 at the Springer Opera House.
