PELL CITY, AL (WBRC) -

Pell City police have arrested a man for allegedly killing his sister early Wednesday morning.

Around 3 a.m., a caller asked police to check on the welfare of someone in the Housing Authority apartments in the 100 block of 31st Street North.

Inside the apartment, officers found the body of 29-year-old Lindsay Michelle Love.

Initial reports indicate Love was not killed by a gun, but police have not yet said how she died. The state department of forensics will determine her exact cause of death.

But neighbors say Michelle Love was violently stabbed to death in her home. A professional cleaning company had to be called to remove the blood.

Police gathered enough evidence to arrest Lindsay Love's brother, 30-year-old Brett Christopher Love, in connection to the crime.

Brett Love has been charged with his sister's murder and is in custody of the St. Clair County Jail.

Pell City Police Sgt. Don Newton said Love's toddler-age child was in the apartment at the time of the killing, but was unharmed. The toddler is now being cared for by relatives.

Sgt. Newton says homicides in Pell City are few and far-between.

"It's extraordinarily rare. It's been several years since the last time we had a homicide. I've been here over 12 years and I can only think of one other homicide," Newton said.

Police have not yet determined a motive in the killing. Police say Brett Love did not have a violent past and did not resist arrest when he was taken into custody.
