194th Armored Infantry Brigade to welcome new commander

FORT BENNING, GA (WTVM) -

Col. Scott D. King will assume command of the 194th Armored Brigade from Col. Kevin S. MacWatters during a change of command ceremony on Brave Rifles Field in Harmony Church. The ceremony will take place on June 25, 2013 at 9 a.m.

King was commissioned as an Armor second lieutenant upon his graduation from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1988. He is also a graduate of the U.S. Army War College, Command and General Staff College and Louisiana Technical University, where he earned a Master's Degree in Business Administration.

Since being commissioned, King has served around the world in command and staff positions. His duty assignments have taken him to Germany, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iraq, Kosovo and installations in the United States as well.

King is a veteran of Operation Desert Shield, Operation Desert Storm, and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Prior to assuming command of the 194th Brigade, King served as the deputy commandant and interim commandant of the US Army Armor School.

King's awards and decorations include the Bronze Star with oak leaf cluster, Meritorious Service Medal with four oak leaf clusters, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, the Saudi Liberation Medal and the Kuwaiti Liberation Medal.

The 194th Armored Brigade conducts initial entry training and advanced individual training for Soldiers and Marines learning to be Armor crewmen, Calvary scouts and Abrams and Bradley Fighting Vehicle mechanics.

MacWatters has been reassigned to Afghanistan.
