BLOUNT COUNTY, AL -

The search for the missing University of Alabama student is now a recovery effort for a body. The girl was identified by her uncle as 19-year-old Alyssa Huffstutler.

Officials say that Huffstutler and six others went rafting on Wednesday, June 19, at King's Bend on the Locust Fork Warrior River in Blount County. They floated down stream and hit a rough patch where some of them lost their floats.

Everyone was able to make it out of the river except for Huffstutler.

Her family has been on the scene all night and day, hoping that she was able to walk into the woods and find a road.

Larry Staton, Huffstutler's uncle, says the family is holding out hope that she is okay. "She was a scuba diver, and also a trained lifeguard, so she's a strong swimmer," he says.

Max Armstrong, Blount County EMA Director, says they are praying that Huffstutler is okay. "She has a strong support network for her family, and we're all hoping that she was able to make it out of the river, and sometime today, will find her way to a road," says Armstrong. "When she does, we'll go pick her up."

Several agencies are aiding in the recovery effort.
