An accrediting agency has lifted sanctions against Birmingham-Southern College over its finances.
Officials with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools voted today to lift a warning against the school.
The Atlanta-based organization imposed sanctions on Birmingham-Southern College in 2011. The school had piled up $13 million debt at the start of the previous academic year.
A statement from Birmingham-Southern College says the school has raised almost $16 million in unrestricted funds over the past year, leading to the improvement.
