AUBURN, AL (WTVM) - After reviewing eight architect firms and interviewing four, jB+a Landscape Architecture of Atlanta was selected by the Auburn University Board of Trustees to redesign the Toomer's Oaks and Samford Park area of Auburn.

A resolution to approve the firm's hiring is expected to pass.

jB+a architects have experience creating tranquil setting projects similar to Toomer's.

After sketching out the new Toomer's design, ultimately the people of Auburn had the final say. A survey of more than 10,000 alumni, students, fans, and friends provided their opinion. It was decided that seedlings would be the best way to honor Toomer's Oaks.

The Toomer's Oaks were poisoned in 2010 after the Iron Bowl football game between Auburn and Alabama by Harvey Updyke. The trees were removed in April.
