194th Armored Brigade welcomes new commander

FORT BENNING, GA (WTVM) -

Tuesday was an emotional day at Fort Benning as the troops say goodbye to an outgoing commander and hello to a new one.

The 194th Armored Brigade welcomed Colonel Scott King to its unit Tuesday morning. The change of command ceremony was held at Brave Rifles Field.

Col. King takes command from Colonel Kevin MacWatters, who's been reassigned to Afghanistan.

We had a chance to speak with the new commander, who says he's excited to be at Fort Benning.

"It's a very awesome feeling," said Col. King. "I am very proud to be joining this brigade, I've been able to watch this past year from afar, and it has a great reputation and I'm just glad to join the team."

We asked Col. King about his future plans for the 194th. He says the unit will change and evolve with the world's demands, and continue to prepare young soldiers for battle.
