MCSB still without a superintendent following June 25 meeting

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

After a year of searching, school board members had a special-called meeting executive session Tuesday night where members discussed two candidates for superintendent.

However, the MCSB remains without a leader.

On Friday the Board met in Atlanta where they did interview two candidates for the position. The Board has done a total of seven face-to-face interviews since the search began a year ago.

These two candidates were discussed in detail in Atlanta on Friday and that conversation was continued Tuesday night. Board Chair Rob Varner said at Tuesday's meeting they were able to discuss a lot of unanswered questions that many of the Board members had on Friday.

"The Board came to a better understanding about qualifications, background experience, history and that was kind of the purpose of tonight's meeting," says Varner.

Varner could not say whether or not a candidate had been eliminated, only that the Board talked deeper and discussed if these candidates would be capable of holding the office of Superintendent.
