Upscale apartments coming to Newport

A new upscale apartment community is coming to Newport.  

The apartment developer, Towne Properties, will break ground on the  $10 million project at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The 102-unit apartment community will be called Monmouth Row and is located at Monmouth St. and Fourth St. in Newport.  

At the ground breaking ceremony, developers plan to reveal renderings of what the apartment community will look like.  

Developers say an apartment in the community will start at $875 a month.

    16-year-old Raven Little-White died in August, after a boating accident on Lake Waccamaw. The medical examiner’s report lists “drowning” as the probable cause of death, but a toxicology report that came back later revealed Raven had actually succumbed to carbon monoxide poisoning.
