199th Infantry Brigade welcomes new commander

Posted: Updated:
FORT BENNING, GA (WTVM) -

A new commander is now in charge of the 199th Infantry Brigade at Fort Benning.

Colonel Lance Davis relinquished command to Colonel David Beachman at the change of command ceremony on Wednesday.

Col. Beachman takes over command of the unit from Col. Davis, who has been reassigned to Hawaii.

We had the chance to speak to the new commander. He tells us his wife is from Columbus, so being stationed at Fort Benning feels like home.

"Coming back here is like coming back to home, it's a team of teams the greater Columbus, Phenix City communities have always welcomed us with open arms and embraced not only us, but every soldier and family here at Fort Benning," Col. Beachman said.

Col. Beachman has spent the last year at Fort Benning learning everything about the 199th.

He says he plans to continue with what the brigade is already doing, by producing quality leaders and officers for our troops.
