AUBURN, AL (WTVM) -

On Wednesday, June 26 the Auburn Police Division arrested 20-year-old Lagregory D. McClain of Mathews, Ala., and 24-year-old Adreana Thomas of Montgomery, Ala. Each was charged with first degree theft of property.

Their arrests stem from a shoplifting complaint received at approximately 1:15 a.m. Wednesday from a business located in the 1700 block of South College Street.

As officers arrived on scene, three suspects fled the store in a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu with an assortment of stolen merchandise.  Officers pursued the vehicle southbound on Interstate 85 to near exit 42 in Macon County. The vehicle wrecked, and McClain and Thomas were taken into custody.  The third suspect fled on foot and remains at large.  Auburn investigators are working to identify him.

No injuries were reported in the incident and the stolen property was recovered.  McClain and Thomas were transported to the Lee County Detention Center where their bonds were set at $5,000 each.

Anyone with information as to the identity or whereabouts of the third suspect is asked to call the Auburn Police Division on the anonymous tip line at (334) 246-1391.
