ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Albany junior golfer Tyler Hanson has made a name for himself on the Georgia junior golf circuit, and will be playing for Peach State pride later this summer.

By finishing 5th at last week's Georgia Junior Championships, Hanson earned a spot on the Georgia team for the Georgia-South Carolina Junior Match Play Championships in July.

The Sherwood Christian Academy student says it's an amazing honor to be playing in a championship many of the game's best pros played in years ago.

"Obviously it has some big history behind it," the 15 year old says. "Matt Kuchar and Davis Love, and all them have played in it. So it'll be really cool being able to play in what they have too."

Hanson says he's never played in a match play tournament, but says he will be getting advice from some of the older players on Team Georgia.

Hanson's friend, Albany's Tyler Joiner, is an alternate on the team.

The Georgia-South Carolina Junior Match Play Championships will be held at Forest Lake Club in Columbia, SC on July 26-27.
