ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Atlanta Falcons want to make sure youth football players across the state are being taught the safe way to play the game.

The Falcons hosted a Heads Up football workshop for youth football coaches and parents at Albany State Wednesday night.

The workshop is designed to teach ways to coach proper heads up tackling form.

Former Falcons linebacker Buddy Curry led the workshop, and also touched on properly fitting equipment.

Lee County head football coach Dean Fabrizio says it's always a benefit to educate youth coaches and parents on ways to make the game as safe as possible.

"The game of football is a great game and it's a safe game, but just like anything else it has to be taught properly," Fabrizio says. "Just like driving a car, you don't want someone driving a car that hasn't been taught properly to do it. The same thing with playing the game of football. The better people are taught, the safer the game is."
