Severe weather is not expected to occur during this year's Fourth of July celebration, what we are expecting...heavy rain.

Showers are ongoing across Alabama throughout the day and embedded areas of thunder are expected throughout the remainder of Wednesday. Forecasters are anticipating a general 1-3" rainfall with some isolated amounts in excess of 3 inches.

So what should you expect for the fourth? Rain, rain and fewer fireworks than average. To see how your community is celebrating or if plans have changed, go to the write it down section of WSFA.com.  Keep in mind that although it will not rain all day, the dangers of fireworks during this holiday and of driving during rainy conditions are still present. State troopers will be on full force starting at midnight Wednesday, monitoring roadways across the state.
