OPELIKA, AL (WSFA) -

The Lee County Sheriff's Office says  four people are under arrest and charged with one count of Burglary in the Third Degree and one count of Theft of Property in the Second after neighbors reported a burglary in progress.

The incident happened July 2 at around 6 p.m., when a couple leaving their neighborhood saw what they thought was a burglary in progress at a neighbor's home in the 1400 block of Lee Road 155 east of Opelika.

The couple called the Lee County Sheriff's Office and reported the suspicious activity as they followed the suspect vehicle. The couple told officers that the suspects were throwing items, including a flat screen television, from the vehicle as it traveled down the road.

A nearby sheriff's deputy spotted the suspects' vehicle traveling on Old Columbus Road in Opelika. Opelika police officers also responded to the area and joined the sheriff's deputy following the suspect vehicle.

Authorities say the vehicle eventually wrecked at the intersection of Old Columbus Road and Edwards Road in east Opelika.

All four suspects jumped from the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers caught each and placed them under arrest, later identifying them as Samson Jermon Logan, 24, of Auburn; Brandon Ledell Hughley, 19, of Opelika; Jacorey Marquald Logan, 21, Opelika; and Jaquavious Jarell Ricks, 19, of Notasulga.

Each is now being held in the Lee County Detention Facility on a bond of $6,000.

Back at the crime scene, Investigators  found that the victim's home had been forcibly entered. The front door had been kicked in. Several items had been stolen including an X-box 360 game system, 27' flat screen television and a gun safe. Investigators say all of the property was identified by and returned to the home owner.

This case is still under investigation. Anyone with additional information that could help authorities is asked to call the Lee County Sheriff's Office at 334-749-5651 or Lee County Crime Stoppers at 1-888-522-7827.
