COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Cody Mathis, wanted for the murder of former Magic 101.3 FM disc jockey, David Rutherford a.k.a. Dave Ford, has turned himself in to authorities.

WTVM reporter, Brittany Dionne, confirmed Mathis was in the custody of his attorney, Stacey Jackson, as of 5 p.m. Sunday.

The 17-year-old Mathis is accused of killing Rutherford outside his 28th Street home on June 26.  Neighbors suspect robbery was the motive for the killing.  At the time of his death, investigators say Rutherford had injuries from more than one method of attack.

Rutherford was retired from radio and working as a taxi driver when he was killed.  He was 57-years-old.
