ANNISTON, AL (WBRC) -

Anniston Police say a woman apparently backed over her husband July 4, killing him.

The incident happened on Golden Springs Road, just inside Anniston city limits. Police have identified the man as 65-year-old Joaquin Allende, who lived in the Randolph County town of Wadley.

Police say the couple was gathering food for a charity basketball game to help pay funeral and medical expenses of a relative who recently died of leukemia.

While autopsy results were not complete, the Calhoun County coroner says he believes the death was an accident.
