Columbus Rapid Response Team assists Canada flooding recovery

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

The Rapid Response Team from Columbus, GA deployed to Calgary, Canada last week to assist business owners in disaster recovery from the worst flooding in decades. Calgary, as well as surrounding areas, was flooded when the two rivers that converge in the city overflowed due to heavy rainfall. Many commercial and residential structures were affected by the flooding and thousands of residents had to be evacuated.

One area affected was The Calgary Stampede rodeo and fair grounds. The Calgary Stampede is billed as ‘The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth'. Flood waters covered most of the grounds as well as the Saddledome that hosts the rodeo and other events. The Saddledome sustained flood waters throughout the entire arena up to the eighth level. The event hosts up to 700,000 attendees each year. Thanks to the rapid response of ServiceMaster Recovery Management officials are planning on opening the event this weekend as scheduled; only two weeks after the damage occurred.

ServiceMaster Recovery Management with a command center in Columbus, GA responds to disasters nationwide. Recently they provided recovery efforts in St. Louis after tornados cut a huge path of damage to homes and businesses. SRM also provided disaster recovery after super storm Sandy last fall.

"SRM is equipped to handle these types of events worldwide. We are large loss recovery experts you can count on," says Steve Morgan, Managing Director.
