BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Richard Peak and members of Healing Place Church showed up early Saturday morning, to clean up Sweet Olive cemetery that's been over taken by grass and weeds.

Peak says after seeing our story on WAFB earlier this week, he wanted to pitch a helping hand. "We had six hearty workers this morning and they've been working two three hours so far. It's getting pretty hot, and I don't know how much longer we will last today," said Peak.

The resting place has been looking like a forest for quite some time. Peak says the owner of the cemetery W.T. Winfield is thankful.

Mr. Winfield said, "God bless you. Thank you. You may work there and clean it up anytime. I'm so happy that someone can help and take an interest," said Peak who started working at seven this morning.

Peak explained the above ground crypts are common in south Louisiana because of flooding issues. Some were broken, others were collapsed, and there was even a little boy.

"Mr. Leo Kelly he's asleep. He was born in 1920 and he died in 1921. He was one years old and this is his eternal resting place, and we cleaned it up with grass way over it no one could even seem him," said Peak.
