AMITE RIVER (WAFB) -

The East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office confirms they have found the body of the man who went missing while swimming in the Amite River Monday afternoon.

The body of Jason Hamilton Jr., 25, was found just after 7 p.m. Monday.

The Sheriff's Office and Fire Department responded to a call just after 4:00 p.m. on Monday about a man who went missing while swimming in the river with a friend.

According to deputies, the friend said the man went under water but she never saw him resurface.
