20-year-old dies 3 days after Steam Mill Road accident

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - We've learned that the young man who was injured after his car overturned Monday night has died.

Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan confirmed to News Leader 9 that 20-year-old Christopher Shepard Jr. was pronounced dead at the Medical Center in Columbus around 11 a.m. Thursday morning. The cause of death was blunt force trauma.

Shepard's car overturned off of Steam Mill Road just after 7 p.m. Monday night.

Columbus police are still looking into the cause of this accident.

Family and witnesses on the scene originally told us the victim sustained several injuries, including a broken leg.
