COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

One Columbus woman got quite a shock when she opened her gas bill this month.

Debora Peavy says Liberty Utilities billed her $8,000 for the month of June.

Peavy says, for the last few months, her bill has been around $100, which she says is high. She got someone from Liberty Utilities to come out and check her meter.

The company said everything seemed to be fine, but then Peavy was extremely shocked to see her latest bill.

We reached out to Liberty Utilities, but they did not respond to our requests for a statement.

Peavy says the company did call her back and corrected the mistake, making $28.91 her actual bill.
