COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

People throughout Georgia are testing their luck and purchasing their tickets for tonight's Powerball jackpot.

People have been buying tickets even early in the day. That's because today's Powerball jackpot is worth $116 million, and that drawing will be tonight at 11 p.m.

The Powerball jackpot has been growing since June 26, rolling over six times. One lucky Georgia lottery player won a $10,000 prize from Saturday's drawing. That ticket was bought at a T-Byrds in Mount Vernon.

But if you are the lucky winner of tonight's jackpot prize you can choose the $116 million annuity paid over 29 years or the cash payout, which is still $67 million.

Even though one's chances of winning are very slim, back in May one lucky Columbus player won $1 million after purchasing his ticket at the Corner Cubbard on Milgen Rd.

Powerball tickets are $2 pre play and all proceeds from Powerball benefit education in the State of Georgia.

The drawing will be tonight at 11 p.m. and if you miss the numbers make sure to check in with WTVM tomorrow morning to see if you are the lucky winner.
