Auburn University bans smoking on campus effective Aug. 21

AUBURN, AL (WTVM) -

Effective August 21, smoking will be prohibited at Auburn University. 

The policy applies to all students, faculty, staff, consultants, contractors, and visitors, according to their website. Smoking will be prohibited in all University buildings and grounds. Littering the campus with tobacco remains is also prohibited.

Electronic cigarettes are also no longer allowed.

However, the University does not require that people quit smoking. People are also allowed to smoke in their own private vehicles on the University grounds.
