National Infantry Museum dedicates new 4th ID monument

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

The National Infantry Museum held a dedication ceremony for a monument honoring the hard work and sacrifice of the 4th Infantry Division today, July 18.

U.S. Army Chief of Staff General Ray Odierno and Former Staff Sergeant Clint Romesha were both present for the ceremony.

SSgt. Romesha is the 4th Infantry Division's most recent Medal of Honor recipient.

"Today really is about remembering the past and those whohave sacrificed so we have this great country of ours today," says General Odierno, "and whenever we doa memorial ceremony like this, that is really important to remember, how manymen and women have raised their right hand and said, 'I'm willing to sacrifice mylife for what I have here in the United States.'"

The dedication is in conjunction with the 4th Infantry Division Association's annual reunion which is currently being held at Fort Benning from July 15 to 20.
