AUBURN, AL (WTVM) - A Montgomery man has been arrested following the investigation of several residential burglaries in Auburn that occurred over the last several months.
On Thursday July 18, the Auburn Police Division arrested 30-year-old Bobby E. Townsend on warrants charging him with two counts of third-degree burglary and two counts of first-degree theft of property.
Auburn detectives have worked closely with the Montgomery Police Department over the past several weeks in an effort to identify the suspects involved in the break-ins. Several other suspects connected to the burglaries have been identified, and Auburn and Montgomery police are working to locate them.
Detectives believe the group is responsible for other residential burglaries that have occurred in Auburn over the past few months including areas such as Moore's Mill and Grove Hill. Some of the stolen property has been recovered.
Townsend was transported to the Lee County Detention Center where he is currently being held on an $8,000 bond. This is an on-going investigation, and additional arrests and charges are expected.
