AUBURN, AL (WTVM) -

Former Auburn basketball player Korvotney Barber, 26, died from an apparent drowning the Gulf of Mexico off Panama City beach.

His body was found Sunday between the Boardwark Beach Condominiums and the Top of the Gulf Condominiums. A passerby found his body along the shore.

Tony Barbee, an Auburn coach, released this statement:

"The Auburn basketball program is deeply saddened to lose one its great players in Korvotney 'Vot' Barber. I was fortunate enough to meet Vot just last week when he stopped by my office to introduce himself to me. What an impressive guy. Our prayers are with his family and loved ones."

After graduating Barber played overseas for two years, most recently with Switzerland's Lugano Tigers, averaging 13 points and 7 rebounds per game.

Barber is a native of Manchester, Ga. and attended Auburn from 2005-2009.
