Former VH1 reality show stars chase Nashville intruders

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A pair of former reality TV contestants came face-to-face with armed intruders late Sunday at their house in a popular area of Nashville.

The aspiring musicians say they were sound asleep in their home near Edgehill Village when two men burst inside. Instead of letting the thieves get away, the roommates fought them off.

"It's a really nice neighborhood. We have a lot of college kids and yoga classes, and it's just unfortunate that this happened," said musician Branden "Chi Chi" Mathena.

Mathena and his best friend, Derrick Tribbett, also known as "Sinister," were asleep at home when two teenagers came by their house with a gun.

"All of a sudden a young gentleman came into the house and we screamed and ran towards him, and he ran," Mathena said.

The two men are maybe best known for being contestants on VH1's reality show Daisy of Love back in 2009.

Instead of just letting the intruders go, Mathena gave chase and fought. He says he had second thoughts about that later.

"I wouldn't have wrestled the guy with a gun if I could do it again," he said.

Mathena thinks the intruders were only about 15 or 16 years old.

"They probably thought we weren't home, because there were no cars in the driveway," Mathena said.

If the teens try to come back again, Mathena says they'll find locked doors and an alarm system.

Metro police have not made any arrests in the case, and descriptions of the suspects have not been released.
