BOSTON (RNN) - A photographer with the Massachusetts State Police is assigned to desk duty, according to CNN and the AP, as punishment for releasing photos of the capture of alleged Boston bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.
Sgt. Sean Murphy was not authorized to release photos that he took the night Tsarnaev was captured after hiding in a boat that was in dry dock.
Murphy will also not have any contact with the public.
Boston Magazine published those photos last week after Murphy leaked the photos in an effort to counter the glamorized mage of Tsarnaev on the cover of Rolling Stone.
In addition to desk duty, Murphy served a one-day, unpaid suspension.
