SALT LAKE CITY (CBS5/AP) -

Federal officials say they plan to review their policies and procedures for visitors after another hiker died in The Wave, a flowing sandstone rock formation near the Utah-Arizona border.

Elisabeth Bervel, 27, of Mesa, died Monday of cardiac arrest when a medical helicopter arrived too late to save her.

Kane County Sheriff's Office said Elisabeth Bervel was hiking with husband, Anthony Bervel. The pair got the tickets in an online lottery drawing seven months ago to celebrate their fifth wedding anniversary Monday.

The couple started hiking about 8 a.m. and after spending some time at The Wave, they were heading back to the trail head when they got lost and spent a couple extra hours looking for the path back to their vehicle, during the hottest part of the day, according to the sheriff's office. Authorities said Elisabeth Bervel collapsed and her husband hiked to find cell phone service and called for help.

Kane County Sheriff's Office said when the medical helicopter from Page, AZ, arrived, she was in cardiac arrest and they were unable to revive her.

Authorities said her body will be taken to the Utah State Medical Examiner's Office in Salt Lake City to determine the cause of death.

Elisabeth and Anthony Bervel have two sons, ages 4 and 5, who were with family in Arizona.

A California couple died their earlier in the month on a trail to The Wave.

Officials at the Vermilion Cliffs National Monument had said they planned the review after the California couple died. Now, they plan to speed up the review or possibly seek an outside investigation.

The Monument uses a lottery system to hand out hiking permits.

The Kane County Sheriff's Office said the Bervels had spent the past seven months preparing for their trip by reviewing information by the Bureau of Land Management about the hike as well as online reviews.

In a statement, the Kane County Sheriff's office said Bevel's death demonstrates the "inherent risks" of hiking in the southern Utah desert.
