From: The Alabama Department of Transportation;

The Alabama Department of Transportation's Industrial Access Road and Bridge Corp. will award the city of Montgomery more than $787,000 for repairs to Gunter Industrial Park. The city will provide the labor for the project, which is equivalent in value to the funding provided by the state. Gunter Industrial Park is home to Alabama Power Co., Capitol Container Inc., Cintas Corp., Contech Engineered Solutions LLC, Giles Foodservice Equipment, Jay R. Smith Manufacturing Co., Kukdong USA Inc., Regitar USA Inc., Rheem Manufacturing Co., STERIS Corp., Thermalex Inc., ThermaSys Corp., and Webster Industries Inc.

"This is great news for the city of Montgomery," said Montgomery Mayor Todd Strange. "These funds will allow us to build a new roadway in Gunter Industrial Park for the fine companies that have chosen to invest in Montgomery. Through this project we are in turn investing in them and ensuring their continued growth."

Industrial Access Road and Bridge Corp. funding is intended to provide adequate public access to new or expanding distribution, manufacturing and industrial firms. Recipients must demonstrate a commitment to new investment and the creation of new jobs.

"Our business partners in Gunter Industrial Park have contributed greatly to the economic well-being of the River Region," said Ellen McNair, senior vice president of economic development at the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce. "We are certainly excited the state agrees and its generous gift will help these companies continue to prosper and bring new jobs to our community."

Construction on the project is expected to be complete in 2014. For more information contact Ellen McNair at (334) 834-5200 or emcnair@montgomerychamber.com
