Lee Co. father uses firearm to scare away burglars

LEE COUNTY, AL (WTVM) -

A Lee Co. father had to use his own firearm to protect his family when a burglar tried to break in and climb into his home.

Steven Causey was taking a nap inside his home when the sound of glass breaking startled him awake and he grabbed his gun. He fired shots that startled a female, then he fired another warning shot which startled a male suspect, who ran away.

Investigators believe the two sped away in a light blue-colored sedan, while a third suspect escaped into the woods.

The three suspects remain on the run.
