NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Detectives are asking for the public's help in identifying two people in connection with a downtown robbery Wednesday morning.

The incident occurred around 10 a.m. in a parking lot at Sixth Avenue South & Demonbreun Street downtown.

A woman was getting into her parked car when police said a "skinny white man with shaggy hair" wearing red shorts approached her.

The man displayed a knife and demanded the victim's purse.

Officer said the victim was either struck or "shouldered" by the robber as he grabbed the purse from the passenger seat of the victim's car.

The attacker then ran to a 2000 model burgundy Honda Civic being driven by a female accomplice and fled the parking lot. Police said the car has slight damage above the driver's side wheel and a dark-colored license plate.

A tourist who heard the victim yell took the attached photo of the getaway car.

Call police at 862-8600 or Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME if you see the car or can help in the investigation.
