Northern wins Georgia state title, advances to SE Regional

RICHMOND HILL, Ga. (WTVM) - The Northern All-Stars beat Warner Robins American East 8-7 to win the Georgia Little League state championship on Friday in Richmond Hill.

For the second straight game Northern rallied from a 3-0 first inning deficit. They scored two runs in the first inning, then put together a 3-run third inning to take the lead for good.

Noah Lee had a home run and an RBI single, while Zack Foster and Josh Evans each had two RBI.

The title is the fourth for Northern in the past ten seasons. They also won the state championship in 2004, 2006, and 2010. The two most recent state championship teams advanced to the Little League World Series, with the 2006 team winning the championship.

Northern begins play at the Southeast Regional in Warner Robins next Friday when face the South Carolina state champ at 4:00 p.m. ET.
