NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A man allegedly wanting to harm himself using a knife and chemicals got the attention of Metro Police, Hazmat crews and the bomb squad Saturday.

Police believed the male victim wanted to commit suicide by using chemicals in his car at 2303 West Linden Ave. in Hillsboro Village.

The road was shut down for a couple of hours while crews investigated the substance, but residents were allowed to enter their homes.

According to police, the bomb squad was called to the scene as the chemicals were thought to be explosive; however, they were not.

Police said the man was alive, but his condition is unknown.
