NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Three people were hospitalized after two separate shootings in Nashville late Sunday night that happened within just a few blocks of one another, according to police.

One shooting happened in the 700 block of Lewis Street, the other about three blocks away at the intersection of Lewis and Robertson streets.

In the first shooting, the male victim said he was approached by two shooters. He was shot in his leg and hands multiple times. He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

The second shooting involved a couple who was getting into a car after visiting a relative's house.

The female victim said a gunman fired 6 to 7 shots at the car. The male victim was struck in the hand. The female was hit in the face by glass, but did not receive gunshot wounds.

Both incidents happened around 11 p.m.

Police do not know if the shootings are connected.

The couple described the shooter in their case as a black man in his late 30s with a short fade haircut.
