WTVM 7/29/13 Editorial: Saying goodbye to WTVM

Posted: Updated:
(WTVM) -

One of my favorite songs of the sixties is "Turn, Turn, Turn, To Everything There Is A Season," by The Byrds.

I am about to make a turn and enter a new season of my life and move into retirement from a great career.

I have been so blessed to have worked for great television stations since 1969. My best years have been the last 18 working at WTVM for the Aflac broadcast division and then Raycom Media.

I have truly loved being a part of this community and being able to serve such great people.

I owe so many for believing in me and giving me such great opportunities throughout my career and for that I will be eternally thankful.

I have been doing this long enough and it is time to make way for fresher ideas and better ways of doing things.

You are in good hands with the great team that is in place at WTVM and our new General Manager Holly Steuart.

You will meet her shortly as she begins to talk to you daily in her own commentaries.

Thanks to all of you for the great memories, thanks to my wife Lin for being my anchor through our 44 years of marriage and I look forward to spending the rest of my next season full-time with her.

General Manager Lee Brantley brings two editorials a week to WTVM. If you would like to respond to an editorial, e-mail your response to WTVM Editorial Committee or write to:
