PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Spirit Airlines is now flying out of Sky Harbor Airport with nonstop flights to Dallas.

This summer, the Florida-based carrier announced plans to stop flights out of Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport on Oct. 23 and begin service between Sky Harbor and Dallas-Fort Worth on Oct. 24.

Spirit said it will add daily service to Chicago O'Hare and Denver International Airport starting Nov. 7.

The airline is in Sky Harbor's north concourse in Terminal 3.

Sky Harbor spokeswoman Deborah Ostreicher said Sky Harbor is among the top 10 busiest airports in the country with more than 1,200 daily nonstop flights.

Also over the summer, Mesa Gateway Airport celebrated its 5 millionth passenger to pass through its gates since it opened about six years ago. Mesa Gateway also offers flights from Allegiant airlines.
