A 20-year-old black female was shot and killed around 9:41 p.m., according to Lieutenant Lee Plymail.

Plymail would not confirm any arrests in the case, although one person was seen being put into a Tyler police cruiser in handcuffs.

Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Quincy Beavers was called to the scene to perform an inquest. As of 2:00 a.m., the Tyler Police Major Crimes Unit was still processing the crime scene.

Traffic remains blocked around the park. Police say they will continue treating this as an active crime scene throughout the night.
