Does the new AL gun law conflict with federal law?

Many law enforcement agencies in Alabama are still searching for clarity when it comes to the state's new gun law, which takes effect tomorrow.

The problem is that part of Alabama's law appears to conflict with federal law.

One gray area has to do with school zones and whether employees would be able to leave guns in their cars, which the state law allows, even though federal law bans weapons within 1,000 ft. of a school.

The legality of guns at sporting events and college campuses is also unclear.

Alabama's new law is designed to give more leeway to gun owners without permits.
