Georgia State student forms White Student Union

ATLANTA, GA (WTVM) - Many college campuses have clubs dedicated to various racial groups and their concerns. Now, a Georgia State University student has formed a student union...for whites.

Patrick Sharp says he started his first year at Georgia State this summer and noticed there were many other student clubs devoted to various racial and ethnic interests, so he started the white student union.

Now, protest flyers are posted all over campus that equate his club with Nazis and white supremacists.

Sharpe says otherwise.

"It's a pride organization. It's a cultural organization. What we have is not hate for any other group."

Douglas Covey, Vice President for Student Affairs, says the White Student Union has every right to exist as an informal club.
