COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The first day of school began with a bang at Kendrick High-- 16 windows at the school were shattered overnight.
According to police, a male suspect was seen striking windows around the building.
When police arrived shortly after 10 p.m., the suspect had run away on foot into the woods.
Columbus investigators say it added up to more than $500 in property damage at the school building.
Vandalism was also front and center at Columbus High on Wednesday.
The school's marble sign at the entrance and sidewalk off 17th Street was spray painted with graffiti.
The area has been cleaned and the profanity has been removed. So far, no suspects have been named in either incident.
