WEST POINT, GA (WTVM) - From the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers West Point Project Management Office in West Point Ga. announces that hunting permits for the 2013-2014 season are now available.
A permit is required to hunt on lands managed by USACE at West Point Project.
The permit fee is $20, which covers the administrative costs associated with the program, such as the cost to print the permits and maps. Each permit consists of a card listing the permit holder's name and address, special regulations and state game laws.
In addition, a map is provided and includes the following: a depiction of the lands available for hunting; a list of weapons restrictions; and a data sheet to report game harvested.
All hunters are encouraged to examine the hunting maps closely to ensure compliance with all rules, regulations, and weapon restrictions. In addition to these rules and regulations, all state hunting regulations also apply for the state in which the permit holder is hunting.
There are approximately 6,000 acres of hunting land available in Georgia and 2,000 acres in Alabama for hunters to utilize. West Point Lake Hunting Permits do not apply to the West Point Wildlife Management Area, which is approximately 10,000 acres and is managed by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.
Permits may be purchased at the West Point Lake Visitors' Center, by telephone at 706-645-2937 using a major credit card, or by mail at the address listed below:
