ATLANTA, GA (WTVM) - We have more details on an internal audit criticizing the Atlanta Veterans Administration Medical Center.
The VA Center is accused in the deaths of at least three patients.
The VA report blames the hospital for patient suicides' overdoses and even a schizophrenic patient who roaming hospital halls for hours. Georgia Senator Johnny Isakson wants answers.
"Those circumstances were difficult and they were troubling, and the failure of the VA system in those three cases was to me deplorable," said Sen. Isakson. "From that, we must learn to make sure it doesn't happen again and that we deal with the needs of our veterans in the future."
Some of the changes include additional safety policies, hiring seventeen additional mental health workers and reducing appointment wait times.
