The LSU "Big Cat Drill" made its fall camp debut Friday morning and the hitting did not disappoint.

Here are a few highlights:

Things immediately got heated as junior defensive end Jordan Allen had difficulty with redshirt freshman offensive tackle Jerald Hawkins. After their exchange, Allen mouthed off to Hawkins, telling him to "keep your *$#% head up!" That did not sit well with head coach Les Miles, who promptly stormed into Allen's face and gave him the business. "We don't need you coaching here, ok?!! Get the hell in the back!" Miles exclaimed.

Miles also had good instruction for true freshman defensive lineman Tashawn Bower, who by the casual eye, may have appeared to dominate junior offensive tackle Evan Washington. Bower flipped Washington to the ground, but that's not what Miles was looking for. "We're learning to use our hands. We're not flipping guys" Miles told Bower.

True freshman linebacker Kendell Beckwith was baptized by fire, as huge, sophomore tight end Dillon Gordon propelled Beckwith backwards. Junior defensive tackle Anthony "Freak" Johnson hardly viewed the matchup as fair, joking aloud, "That's a 300 pound tight end!". Gordon is listed as 6'5, 286 pounds.

The "Big Cat Drill" has been an embarrassing experience on several occasions for LSU junior running back Kenny Hilliard, in particular against sophomore linebacker Ronnie Feist. But Friday morning, Hilliard held his own against the new #18, senior linebacker Lamin Barrow. Hilliard drew smiles and congratulatory slaps from his offensive teammates.

Poor true freshman linebacker Duke Riley. What did he do to deserve this? Riley was paired up with senior fullback and thunderous hitter JC Copeland, who ran through the young defender like a rag doll.

Senior safety Craig Loston was jumping up and down in excitement, as junior defensive end Justin Maclin handled his business against junior tight end Jake Franklin. Franklin just transferred to LSU from William & Mary College.

And junior running back Jeremy Hill continued his transition back into the LSU football family, doing well against sophomore linebacker Deion Jones. "There you go J! There you go Jeremy!"a fiery and pleased running backs coach Frank Wilson shouted, as he grabbed Hill's jersey and shook him with two hands.

He is the first Mississippi State player to reach 20 home runs, 20 doubles, 70 RBI, and the first SEC hitter to do so since 2000.
