(WTVM) - Coverage for abortions in nearly all instances will be banned for women enrolled in Georgia's employee health insurance plan and will affect state employees.

The Department of Community Health made the decision Thursday August 8. It allows Governor Nathan deal to keep his promise to limit state funds used for abortions.

The changes are set to take effect in January 2014.
