Albany YMCA creates P.E. program for home-schoolers

ALBANY, GA (WTVM) -

South Georgia  home-schoolers have a new way to get some physical education. The Albany YMCA is starting a P.E. program just for 5 to 13 year olds who are home-schooled.

Students will swim and play basketball and tennis once a week.

Y officials say this program will help them stay in shape and give them a chance to get to know other home-schoolers their age.

"A lot of students they do the typical curriculum, the math the science and stuff like that, and maybe they are involved in other physical activity, but just to get them here together so that they can be in one environment almost like school...meet other kids as well," says Trey Searles, the YMCA sports and P.E. director.

The program begins September 3rd.
