Search called off for body in Chattahoochee River

Posted: Updated:

Columbus Fire Chief Ricky Shores confirms that as of 9:30 a.m. today, August 13, the search for a body in the Chattahoochee River has been suspended.

The search began yesterday when two people said they saw a man go under the water near the 13th Street Bridge and never resurface.

Shores says the man could have either gotten out of the water and does not want to come forward, he could have drown and is caught in debris, or has floated downstream.
