AUBURN, AL - Fans crowded the Auburn University Regional Airport Sunday night as Auburn Alum and new PGA champion, Jason Dufner arrived back home.
"He stayed out there longer than I did because he made sure everybody got a picture if they wanted or an autograph, you can imagine how worn out he was after that long day," says Auburn fan, Brannen McMahan.
Dufner has lived in Auburn ever since he walked onto the Tiger's golf team in 1997.
McMahan, an employee of the men's clothing store The Locker Room in downtown Auburn, where Dufner is a frequent shopper, says it's neat to see him both on and off the course.
"I will be sitting here on a Monday and he will come in and shop around and then I'll be sitting here on a Saturday watching him play so it's just crazy and we are very proud of him," explains McMahan.
Dufner is also known for giving back.
He and his wife, Amanda, are passionate about helping the youth in the area.
Through the Jason Dufner Charitable Foundation, this year they plan to help the Boys and Girls club in East Alabama.
They are also making a three year commitment to the Blessings in a Backpack program
"It's a warm feeling when you hear people yell war eagle at a golf tournament," explains Mayor Bill Ham, "So hats off to Jason and certainly Amanda for not only being great citizens to this community, but his success. He has got a lot of great things to come in the future."
