AUBURN, AL (WTVM) -

The Auburn Police Division arrested two people in connection to the theft of two motorcycles on Wednesday August 21.

Quinel D. Deramus, age 25 from Bessemer, Ala. and 21-year-old Tadarius D. Wells from Birmingham, Ala. were both arrested on two felony warrants for theft of property first degree.

On Wednesday morning at approximately 6:17 a.m. an off-duty Auburn Police Officer observed two motorcycles being transported in the bed of a pick-up truck on S. College Street in Auburn.  The officer observed the truck maneuver in an evasive and suspicious manner.  Due to recent motorcycle thefts in the area, the officer reported the incident to the Auburn Police Division.

A marked patrol unit responded to the area and located the truck and the occupants and conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 85 South near Exit 51.  Police conducted a preliminary investigation into the incident and discovered that the motorcycles had just been stolen from an apartment complex in the 1200 Block of S. College Street in Auburn.

Deramus and Wells were both transported to the Lee County Detention Facility where their bonds were set at 10,000 each.
